Baltimore: Baltimore Orioles Cal Ripken Jr. will retire after this season, ending a career that once seemed as if it would go on forever. Baseball's Iron Man, who didn't miss a day of work for almost 17 seasons and broke Lou Gehrig's record of 2,130 consecutive games, said he wants to spend more time with his two children June 19,2001. Ripken signs autographes in Detroit at Tiger Stadium for many of his fans of which he has many.
